This is the economic importance of berries in Mexico, since according to the president of the National Association of Berry Exports, Jos\u00e9 Luis Bustamente Fern\u00e1ndez, the berry industry in Mexico generates around 420,000 direct jobs.

In addition, its profitability index is higher than that of products such as sugar cane or corn production in Mexico. The benefit-cost ratio of berries in Mexico determines their financial viability in a productive project. According to the Mexican Journal of Agricultural Sciences, this ratio is 2.82% for the case of blueberry, 1.88% for the raspberry, 1.82% for the strawberry, and 1.76% for the pomegranate.
