TOMATO PRODUCTION DEPENDING ON TODAY'S BPA LEVELS

Good Agricultural Practices (BPA) are more than just a feature; they are a business necessity, thanks to the registration systems that must be implemented as a component of competitiveness. Tomato cultivation in Mexico uses a large amount of agrochemicals. A high percentage of production costs is related to the purchase and application of inputs, including agrochemicals; in addition to increasing production costs, they cause serious disruptions to the environment and the health of consumers and the producers themselves.

BENEFITS OF ADOPTING THE BPA

Improving the hygienic conditions of the product

Preventing and minimizing product rejection in the market due to residues

Toxic or unsuitable characteristics in taste or appearance for the consumer

Minimize the sources of contamination of products to the extent that hygiene standards are implemented during production and harvest collection

It opens up opportunities to export to demanding markets (better opportunities and price). In the near future, it will likely become a requirement to access those markets.

Obtaining new and better information about your own business thanks to the registration systems that must be implemented (certification) and that can be cross-referenced with economic information. In this way, the producer better understands their business, which enables them to make better decisions.

It improves the management (administration and control of personnel, inputs, facilities, etc.) of the line (company) in terms of productivity and economy, and increases the company's competitiveness by reducing costs (reduced losses of inputs, working hours, and idle time).
